£2.7 million cost savings for East Kent Services

A shared-services virtual desktop programme across Canterbury, Dover and Thanet district councils.

Overview

East Kent Services used Citrix workspace technology and Thintech’s virtual desktop methodology to support collaboration, lower operating cost and improve resilience across Canterbury, Dover and Thanet district councils.

A more efficient design gave users access to systems through one desktop sign-in, supported remote working and helped the shared service rationalise physical space.

  • Remote and mobile access supporting continuity plans
  • Simplified access to shared systems
  • Spare site capacity released for other public bodies
  • Projected savings of £2.7 million as reported in August 2014

Working with Thintech is like having an extension of your own department. They are happy to take responsibility and be open and collaborative.
